Commissioning an Instrument

A musician who commissions an instrument has the distinct advantage of being able to greatly influence the outcome of the new instrument: model, tone-quality, varnish, and color. A collaboration between musician and violinmaker is especially recommended for viola players. Together one can find an adequate solution for specific size, proportion and sound requirements. But a wide range of sound characteristics is also possible in violins and cellos, and a discussion between maker and musician, combined with the possibility to play on already finished instruments, will help the maker to create an instrument that responds to your demands.

Once we agree on the order, delivery will take place within three months for a violin or viola, and within four months for a cello. I usually request a deposit of ten percent to confirm the order, with the remainder payable one month following the consignment.
